California photos posted

Category: Photography,Site Updates — Posted by Michael at 2317

Friends Central Perk setI have FINALLY taken the time to get my California photos posted on the site. It’s disgraceful that it’s taken me so long to get this done, but anyone who has seen me in person since February has probably already seen them on my iPad or at least that’s how I’m making myself feel better about taking so long!

The pictures are from my visit to with Marianne in Los Angeles County. We went to a bunch of Back to the Future filming locations plus Griffith Observatory, Warner Brothers Studios, Universal CityWalk, Long Beach, La Brea Tar Pits, the Queen Mary, Hollywood and more. Check them out here.

More photos will hopefully be coming soon. I have a LARGE selection from my trip to Michigan and some photos from the New Hope Ivyland Railroad excursion to Lansdale.

See who has permission to your accounts

Category: Interesting Links,Technology — Posted by Michael at 2207

We all have accounts on various web-based social media services and we all use various apps to access them. This means that at some point we’ve given each of those apps permission to access our accounts for the purpose of reading our data or posting on our behalf. What most of us have never done is go through and prune off the apps that we no longer use or that we didn’t mean to authorize. Every service has a page where you can manage those links, but finding them can take some searching. That’s where mypermissions.org comes in. It provides a direct link to each of these. It’s a simple page of links, but it’s useful. You’ll be surprised how many apps you’ve given permission to!

One word of advice… If you’re someone who has already deleted their Facebook account, do not try to access the settings of your former account as I’ve read that Facebook will automatically reactivate your account. They’re… umm… “helpful” that way.

New notes from Family Tree site

Category: Genealogy — Posted by Michael at 1336

It’s been forever since I’ve posted an update to the family tree website and I know that there have been many new additions to the Gatti family, especially in Ray and Kathy’s branches of the tree. I’ll get them added eventually. In the meantime, they’ve been kind enough to share all their happy news in the Gatti Family Yahoo! Group.

On the Paull side of the family, there’s also some exciting news. Theresa Tull (my first cousin twice removed, aka. my maternal grandmother’s first cousin) is now a published author. Her book, A Long Way from Runnemede – One Woman’s Foreign Service Journey chronicles her fascinating career as a US Ambassador during several presidential administrations. This space is not nearly long enough to list all of her adventures and accomplishments, but it’s really worth checking the book out on Amazon or learn more from my blog post about it.
