Instant messaging has stagnated

Kevin Rose makes a good point in his latest blog entry. Instant messaging hasn’t advanced very much since it’s creation. Sure the invention of the Buddy List was a huge step forward, but that was so long ago.

Kevin has a few good ideas for new features. There are many other possibilities too.

Unified instant messenging?

Well, it’s about time! MSN and Yahoo! are going to crosslink their voice and chat services so users of either service can contact each other. I personally use AOL’s AIM and know no one in this country who uses these two. But maybe this will prompt AOL to get on board too!
