| I think most socially conscious people already have certain charities they choose to support, but just in case you are looking for some new ones, here are the ones that I choose to support. |
| Diabetes |
Diabetes is a disease that is rapidly climbing the list of the world's deadliest diseases. I won't bore you with the facts and figures, but I'll just say that they are staggering. This is a disease that affects much of my family. Visit the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org to make a donaition or to access their vast collection of information. |
| Organ Donation |
When you die, what will happen to your organs? The answer to that depends upon whether you decide to donate them. If you want to donate your organs you should make your family aware and then visit DonateLife.net for more info. I know several people who would not be alive today if it were not for generous organ donors. |
| Breast Cancer |
Breast cancer has touched many people including family members and the parents of a very close friend of mine. There are many resources for this disease, but two of the best are the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. |
| American Red Cross |
When you think of the Red Cross you probably think of donating blood. While that is a huge part of what they do and you should give blood, they do a lot more than that as well. They're the first ones there after a natural disaster, or even a man made disaster. Visit RedCross.org for more info. |
| Muscular Distrophy |
While I have no direct ties to this one, but I typically donate to it every year because I've enjoyed watching the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon all of my life. Besides, could you live with yourself if you didn't support Jerry's kids? Visit MDA.org for info and to donate. |
