In the early part of the 20th century Gene DeMichelis (common-law second husband of Celia Gatti) owned Gene's Restaurant at 73 West 11th Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, NYC. At one time or another Larry Gatti, Frank Gatti, Joseph Panazzolo, Nelson Panazzolo, Erma Toretta Gatti and her second husband Albert Fabri, all worked there. The restaurant is still operating at this location under new ownership. To this day it is known in Greenwich Village for its timeless class and atmosphere. Based upon what I've read in recent reviews Gene's legacy is alive and well!
