Berks County Covered Bridges
November 2008
The latest of my covered bridge driving tours took me to Berks County, Pennsylvania. I had hoped to take my Dad on this tour but that just wasn't in the cards. We went to all five bridges and then had time to visit the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower in Reading. We even did some shopping at the outlet stores and then had dinner at Stoudt's Black Angus Restaurant. I couldn't have asked for better fall weather.

All great covered bridges have a hex sign, just as this one on Wertz's Bridge in Reading

The Distlefink is traditional symbol of the Pennsylvania Dutch. This giant one resides the the Berks County Heritage center

There were some cows out in the woods. No punchline, just some cows.

That's pretty much the definition of fall colors there

I had been to Stoudt's Oktoberfest before but this was the first I ate at Stoudt's Black Angus Restaurant.
